Cleaning gas oven burner

I've recently moved into a house with a fairly old gas stove/oven, model Leisure Laureat. I've found that the gas burner in the oven is not burning gas properly and therefore the oven does not get as hot as it should. The gas burns with a blue and yellow flame instead of all blue, implying not enough air for proper burning. I have put a carbon monoxide detector next to it just in case.

It is not obvious how to clean the burner, which I guess is the source of the problem. Has anyone got any advice?

Ovens , cookers , hobs have no flue all the products of combustion will enter the room the appliance is in . As a result of this a co alarm is not recommended in this room as it is likely to go off when you are cooking .

You need to get a gas safe engineer out to remove the burner and check the injector . It is not a diy job .

This may not save you money but it will save your life .

If the mean time don`t use the oven .

I'd rather the CO alarm went off unnecessarily while cooking, which it has not, though I have tested it. Usually it lives next to the gas fire in the living room.

I have a gas engineer coming out soon, but I imagined cleaning the burner may be a simple job.
