Bell Insurance - Unauthorised Direct Debit Withdrawal

  • Checked my bank statement this morning and found Admiral had taken £296 form my account for sons car insurance in Dec. 2011. When insurance was taken out Admiral were asked not to keep my card details and not to automatically renew. Had automatic renewal happen before, with the Post Office, so was aware of the need to ensure it didn't happen again. Admiral ignored the request and took money from my account to renew - no new policy sent, think someone slipped up. Will phone bank "unauthorized transaction" and get the money returned to my account and let them investigate. Made sure I had proof of asking them not to automatically renew.

James if you company are happy to give you £100 take it WTG! Think this business of renewing needs sorting - do away with automatic renewal as no one wants it these days when comparison web sites are uses by most people. Should not be legal for companies to keep bank details esp when they belong to someone who is not the policy holder. As I see it, the transaction is done by a third party that has no interest in the policy beyond paying on behalf of the policy holder.
