Hi
I am planning on going to the Algarve in May, and was wondering what your thoughts on this are.
I am looking for a relaxing break, so beaches, and then also on the odd day go shopping.
Want to be able to do some water sports, eg Snorkelling etc.
should i go vilamoura or albuferia?
We are in our late 20's lol so dont want a place that is too quite or with too many senior tourists! If you know what i mean. But want it to be relaxing and therefore not after a loud nightlife etc.
Thanks

probably somewhere in between the two!!
I like the Algarve and I'm 24. I don't really enjoy clubbing but I like bars / pubs. Have been to Olhos D'Auga and Carveriro. Olhos D'Agua is sleepier than Carverio but then I go away to chill out and have few lagers not go mad clubbing!!
Have a look at https://www.styleholidays.co.uk - book late and get a good deal.
Good luck and PM me if necessary.0 -
We are both in our early thirties and really enjoyed Praia da Rocha. It's has a beautiful beach and the locals are so friendly. Plenty to do but if you go in mid to late May you aren't overwhelmed by the tourist hordes. I can't wait to go back. We stayed at the Hotel Oriental, which was pricey but worth it for what we wanted.0

Go to Vilamoura, it is a much nicer area.
Go to the marina and there are loads of companies offering water sports.0 -
Thanks for your helps so far.
I went to the local travel agent - she has never been their herself but she said
"the whole of algarve isnt wild. no mad nightlife. so you can stay either vilamoura or albuferia and you will be fine. Atleast with albuferia there will be more to do"
At the moment i am thinking albuferia - should this area be avoided? There are better deals on accomodation in albuferia then vilamoura and also i am thinking there will be more things to do - keep the wife happy etc! (and we all know how important that is) lol
Thanks again0 -
Which part of Albufeira? Find out the area and I will tell you what it is like.0

I'd personally give Albuferia a miss - seems a bit too clubby and Englishfied...0

Albufeira is definitely the liveliest of all the resorts in the Algarve, if that's what you want it's fine and there are some parts that are quieter. If you're looking for a peaceful holiday then in all honesty I'd go to Vilamoura, or another resort.0

If you like egg and chips, all day breakfasts and tennents on tap then Albufeira is the place for you.0
