Npower Sign Online Tariff misleading to say the least
I switched to Npower from Scottish Power as comparison sites said they'd be cheaper for me. It's the Sign Online 24 which is paperless billing and states that "you must manage your account online" and when you logon to your account the home page says that "MY Npower is putting you in control". I now find that "managing my account online" consists of entering meter readings, changing personal details and if I want it there's an energy tracker for my electricity use which forecasts my useage based on readings. Also I only get a statement every 6 months.
As I switched mid December they said it was too late to set up a direct debit so they would take the 1st one on 1st February. I rang them and made a payment over the phone 24th December to put some credit on my account but couldn't see it online so I rang to ask where it was and they told me I can't see payments online. I told them I was previously with Scottish Power and I'd put a reading in online 1st of every month and it would produce a bill there and then so I could see my useage and if I was in a credit or debit balance. Apparently Npower are working on this for their online accounts but don't have it yet. However I can always ring them with a meter reading and they'll tell me my balance.
To be honest I'm totally miffed about Npower and feel that they have have misold me the Online Tariff with the promise of managing my account online when I can do no such thing and although I am out of the cancellation period I'm going to pay the £40 cancellation fee and leave them.
Does anyone know of a supplier, other than Scottish Power, that really does let you manage your account online??
