Reclaiming old Natwest account bank charges.

Hi all,
I need something clarified if i may please?
I began to claim my bank charges too late (somewhere around 2007-2008?) I remember having a long wait for a court decision to be made and i think i received a letter from NatWest telling me that i wasn't entitled to reclaim my charges.
To be honest with you, the last few years have been a blur as i have been severely depressed. I believe my depression has primarily been caused by financial worry. I am now feeling FANTASTICALLY well after seeking the right help and being on a DMP with the CCCS for the last year or so, and now realise that, although my debt is a problem, its no where near the end of the world!
I've just been browsing this website and have seen that it still may be possible to reclaim bank charges if i can proove i am in financial hardship. After reading this forum i have realised that my charges 'snowballed' and i am now paying these charges off via my DMP :(
Is my next step writing to the bank to ask for a copy of all of my charges? Im confused as to how far i can go back. I think I remember when i tried last time I went back 6 years. Is this still the case?
Will look forward to your advise.
Kind regards
FP

Firstly Funky, well done for addressing your debt problems and it's fantastic that you feel so much better for having done so.

Check out the advice guide on MSE about requesting all your data including all charges taken from your account/s. I sent £10 with my requests to speed up the process (don't ask specifically for statements, but all data including charges etc.)

If you claim more than 6 years they can say no, they can also say no to within 6 years too but you've nothing to lose by trying.
Banks now won't entertain unfair charges claims, only hardship and even then they have no obligation to refund anything.
So if you feel you fit the hardship criteria why not have another go.
