tax credits change? any one could clarify?

hi i just wondered if any tax credit people could help me out,?

right bascically i called yesterday to increase my partners estimated income from £11800 to £13800 as we did not want a overpayment from this april..

the helpful chap said fine we can do that and took the details,he then said the change can sometimes take 24 hours to update on the system, i said no problem and will maybe give you a call to see if done tomorrow (today)..

i called today and again spoke to a pleasant chap who said he can see the change but on our payment schedule the payment we recieved today as we do every friday weekly is showing as the only payment but we still have a entitlement and the payments are still sorting themselves out..

i got told yesterday that our weekly payments and payment day wont change as we are protected with the disregard and we will still get paid on the same day as before and the new amount they will use will start from april..

i am confused as to why the payments are not on the screen as he said but he did say not to worry we should still be paid next week..

now i know some people will think i being silly maybe but what the chap said about the payments schedule being a bit of a mess i have panicked a bit as we never knew of this before,he did say the change is going through though..:(

thanks guys.

It might not make any difference to your payments, there's a £10k disregard for income increases from one tax year to the next. If you're still within £10k of last year's income AND you haven't already given an estimate which is lower than last year's income your payments should stay the same till April.

    Hi there

I wouldn't worry too much. The thing you need to look out for is the paperwork that you will recieve (they always send an amended award notice when any changes are made). This may take up to 3 weeks to arrive but please check it through carefully when it does. If you don't receive the amended notice in 2 or 3 weeks, I would ring the helpline again. :)
