    Hi,

Only a set of xmas lights, should be slightly higher usage for the time as we were at home all day for a week for the holiday, have no electric heaters have a gas combi boiler, gas fire,

    thanks

Any outbuildings or attics that a fanheater or similar could have been left running accidentally in?

It might even have been plugged in last spring, and just come on now due to a thermostat.
    Any floodlights?

    Hi,

Put a meter reading online yesterday, last meter reading was 17th November, entered the details only to find I have used 3000kwh of electric in the last 6-7 weeks, my normal yearly consumption is 6500kwh any advice as to how i could have used so much, I have emailed E-on for their help just waiting for a reply, not used anything different except used a dehumidifier - I have used 6 months of electric in just 6-7 weeks, what would be the best way to go about finding out why I have used so much energy please?

    Thank you

    Hi popskins

That's certainly quite a hike. Already some excellent advice on here, particularly about taking regular meter readings. Thought I would just add a couple of things.

To confirm what victor says, we still supply energy monitors FOC. As an online customer, you can request one of these through your website registration. Might help pinpoint any sudden spikes.

I'm afraid, there's still quite wait for these as demand continues to grow. In the meantime, I'd have a chat with our Energy Efficiency team. Give them details of your appliances and property. They specialise in this type of thing and will be happy to help.

Hope this is of interest popskins. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

  • Hi Malc,

thanks for you reply, have checked most appliances only thing i have used more is the de-hudifier which does not appear to be giving an abnormal reading, I have no electric heaters or outbuildings were anything is left on, dont have outside electric only a security light, have emailed Eon 4 days ago still waiting for a reply, meter still reading normal usage as yet but worried this may happen again,

    thanks
