Flower budget

Sorry I've a feeling this question may have been done to death but a search through the thread throws up approx a million results for flowers (I'm not prone to exaggeration at all- honest).

I'm just wondering what you budgeted and what you paid for your flowers and how much you got (no of button holes, bouquets etc). I'm trying to work out a budget but I honestly haven't a clue what flowers cost and so don't know if I need a budget of £100 or £1000 so any help muchly appreciated! Thanks!

If you're setting out your budget why not do this with everything for the wedding. Do you have prices for other things? Maybe working back that way you will then come to a figure of say £500 for flowers and so that's your budget.

If you set a budget just by plucking figures off other people, that figure might not fit within your 'overall' budget if you know what I mean.

You could have a flower budget for either of the figures you mention (£100 or £1000) and which ever you have is what you spend.

Have you looked at displays or seen anything you like? Do you have any idea on how much you have available for flowers?

If you like a particular flower we can all look on here to try and source it cheaper or help you make a certain display cheaper if it is too high.

I think maybe if you get the budget of what money you have for flowers and work around that, rather than the other way round. If that makes Any sense at all...... It is Friday

Good advice from 74jax – that's more or less what we've done.

Our budget is small - around £150. So for that we're having my bouquet, four bridesmaids' bouquets and six buttonholes. If it helps, this is our florists' price list:

Bridal bouquet: hand-tied from £55; shower design from £90
    Bridesmaid bouquet: from £25
    Corsage: from £10
    Buttonholes: from £2.50
    Table decorations: from £20
    Top table arrangements: from £35
    Pedestals: from £75
  • Thanks for the replies that does make sense and we will do it that way. It's just that I'm REALLY clueless on this! I wasn't even sure if you could get flowers for £200 or equally if £200 would be excessive. I mean I can figure out reasonable amounts for almost everything else from experience and have a figure that suits the budget but equally gets us what we want but not with the flowers. Ridiculous really- I love flowers but haven't a clue what they cost lol

Do you have a rough idea of what you want? i found talking to a florist was the best way of getting idea of cost. I then decided to do it myself...

  • It sounds like you're not that fussed about a particular design etc, which means that your budget can be much more flexible. For example, if you HAD to have calla lillies out of season, it would cost much much more than if you want a much simpler bouquet.

The way I chose was by contacting local florists and seeing how much they quoted. I wasn't sure what I wanted at all! But I new that I didn't want it to take up a huge chunk of my budget. I got quotes for the same simple white rose bouquet that varied between £45 and £90. Naturally I went for the £45 florist and got everything else through her too!

I could have gone for no roses, and had something for £25, but I allowed myself a bit of luxury!

Smaller replicas of my bouquet were £35 each for the bridesmaids. i can't remember exactly how much buttonholes were - I think around £5?? Again, roses.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!!

    I've been Money Tipped!
We had no ideas on prices for flowers so just popped in to a couple of local ones, explained our rough ideas and she gave us some prices. Worth a go.

Good advice isn't spam. I see links on here regularly and I am not here to spam. I've been participating in other unrelated threads.

However you are posting that we should check out your own website. Which IS against forum rules.
