Nationwide Flexaccount bill payments

One and a half cheers for Nationwide.
After upgrading their 'payments and transfers' section to include a 'look up' bill payments [that is BACS payments] facility some months back they have finally made these take immediate effect, rather than having to wait a day before they could be used. Also deletions [of old bill payment details] take effect instantly, I have found.
However when I amended the details on an 'existing' arrangement it came back with a message that the sort code [etc] has to be checked - and to allow a day for this to occur.
Now this is just the previous message - so they haven't upgraded the 'edit' function yet in the same way as they have the other two parts [curious!] But what Nationwide hasn't spotted is that when you go in to amend an existing bill payment you are not even presented with the option of changing the 8 digit account number or the 6 digit sort code - merely to amend the primary and secondry descriptions [eg 'Golfclub' - 'My Subs'] And the internal reference [eg 'Member000456'] Whoops!
Still, this is a valuable improvement, so I thought other flex customers would like to be aware of it.

Thanks for this. This really used to annoy me. It's about time as other banks have the facility to pay a bill on the same day. Do you know if, when you set the payment up, it pays on the same day or does it still go to the next day anyway? Lloyds does this. You can set up a payment today but it won't pay it until the next day. Barclays, you can set up and pay there and then0

I love the Nationwide FlexAccount. Only thing that annoys me is all the codes that I need to enter to access my account online, but I suppose that is important.0

"what Nationwide hasn't spotted is that when you go in to amend an existing bill payment you are not even presented with the option of changing the 8 digit account number or the 6 digit sort code"
This is done as fraud prevention, and will be completely planned.
The fraud/risk guys at work have made the request to our online banking system to remove the functionality of sortcode and account number changes for standing orders and bill payments.
This is the latest trick used by people breaking into your account online. They amend the destination details for your payments and people don't notice as the payee name is still the same, you think you are paying your mortgage but the funds are going to another bank.
A new Standing Order or payment being displayed will be more apparent to you and could stop the payments going anywhere.
