Bitter and twisted me, still thinks people who are thinking of switching away from BG Gas should still do so, and IMHO will still be better off with someone else, Price and customer service wise.

Especially seeing as the reported decrease is NOT 17% for gas, but only 11%

Why not be a tart, switch to BG now via MSE cashback (£30 cashback from moneysupermarket)?

Switches take around 6 weeks, so should be in place to get their new cheaper rate.

Then if as predicted the others are cheaper by then just switch again - another £30 cashback - making a total of £60, and overall the bills will have been lower for two lots of 10 mins work at the switching website.

10 mins assuming the switch goes smoothly. MY last switch took 11 months to complete, which included lots of phone calls on my part.

    Totally put me off !

My British gas "discounted" electricty comes to an end next month which means a 12.3% increase in prices for me (still a 1% increas even after the price drop). Clearly I'd be stupid to stay with them as they are fairly expensive and I'm sure there are plenty of others in my position.

Because you'll probably spend a year trying to disentangle yourself from the morons at British Gas who are unable to organise account setup and bills, let alone something less in their favour like freeing you from their talons.

Avoid, avoid, avoid. It really is not worth the misery for £30.

After a long time I've finally got my gas & electric details together, check several websites, read Martin's article and switch to Npower. I fill in the form and get the confirming email.
I then go back to this site and read this

What do I do now? Do I still go through with the switch or do I change my mind

the optimist - up to you, you can always switch again in a few weeks and get a second dose of cashback.

ilikepoints - BG are currently claiming to be offering the cheapest dual fuel on the market, however once the other companies drop their prices (which won't take long I'm sure) it won't last.

I reckon my switch cost me a fair bit in telephone calls to the "wonderful" customer disservice at Npower and British Crap.
    Happy chappy
