Can PPC's clamp your car?
I ask because i read a story recently of someone whose car was clamped (outside their home) by APCOA for accidently parking incorrectly on council land.

As esmerobbo says, APCOA do sometimes act for Councils and on Council land (like in residents car parks at blocks of flats) they may still have clamping as a level of enforcement. But it would still be a civil clamping and if the signage wasn't clear or seen then the victim might still be able to sue to get the money back. Just like with any private clamper.
But the majority of PPCs do not clamp at all, and as private (non-Council, non-Police, non DVLA, non Court bailiff) clamping is being banned in a couple of months they won't start now.
Bottom line, when you park, check for clamping signs and do not park there if you see them! If you see private parking signs WITHOUT a 'clamp release fee' stated then you can safely park and ignore any rubbish fake PCN of course.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
