Ryanair Refund Of Taxes

Can anyone help? I have done a Ryanair search and can not find any relevant info, but apologies if I am being dumb. We have flights booked to Barcelona Girona, from Stansted at half term. Due to an unforseen event it looks like we are unable to travel. To change the flights would be more expensive than purchasing new tickets.
I have phoned Ryanair and they have confirmed that we could apply for the goverment tax to be refunded. This costs £14 per person, per booking (not per flight).
Total for 6 Passengers
Fare price 4.80 GBP
Infant Fee 14.00 GBP
Debit Card fee 8.40 GBP
Taxes 165.66 GBP
Insurance
Total price 192.86 GBP
Refund charge £14 x 6 = £84.
The taxes above, are they just government taxes or does it include anything else? Will we get any refund back? Does anyone know how much we are likey to be refunded and has anyone done it before?
Thankyou

Ask them if you will get £165.66 less £84, equals £81.66.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Unfortunately she could not tell me any figures it has to be referred to head office in Dublin, after the date of the outbound flight. (Thus within a month of missing your flight you can make a claim) I asked how much the taxes to Barcelona were and she did not have access to that info. So essentially I am wondering if anyone has done it or knows the takes cost.:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin0

Full explanations of the taxes, fees and charges are detailed below:
UK Air Passenger Duty - Taxes such as UK Air Passenger Duty are levied on the carriage by air if passengers are departing from a UK airport. The fees are as follows:
£10 (GBP) per person for each UK domestic flight (£20 on a return UK domestic flight)
£10 (GBP) per person for flights from the UK to an EU/EEA airport
£40 (GBP) per person for flights from the UK to an airport outside the EU/EEA - e.g. Morocco
Government Tax - An airport departure or arrival tax payable to the government. These taxes vary from country to country in Europe.
Passenger Service Charge/Airport tax - This is a charge made by the airport authority to an airline for the use of the terminal, runway, emergency services, security facilities etc. In some cases this charge also includes the cost of passenger and ramp handling at the airport.Thisnon refundable charge is made on a per passenger basis and varies from airport to airport.
Aviation Insurance Levy - This aviation insurance surcharge was introduced after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Governments no longer covered airlines for acts of terrorism and consequently airline insurance costs rose dramatically. The charge is £3.35/€5.04 per passenger/per flight and similar measures have also been taken by airlines worldwide.
Are all of these refundable? Anybody know?:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin0 -
I read in one of the forums, probably here that one of the co-MSEers tried that and they refused the refund of taxes saying that the value of the refund was less than the administration charges.
Maybe the situation is different in your case as you have a larger sum, amounting to tax.
Hope you get your money back from the Money eating RyandeersI wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T0 -

I doubt you will get anything...
the taxes going out are £60
and coming back are approx £22
Total £82...and the refund charge is £84
The rest is made up of PSC & Non Aviation Insurance Refundable Levy....0 -
Tried this with Ryanair myself. They didn't refund and apparently airlines aren't obliged to.
https://www.ryanaircampaign.org.uk is interesting, but saddening reading. I wouldn't book with them again.0 -
Hi,
See my thread about exactly the same thing in Dec when I couldn't take two flights to Spain cause my 70yr old mother became ill. I applied (in writing by snail mail) for a refund of the tax and they emailed back saying the 'admin charges' were more than the refund. I asked how much the admin charges are but they haven't responded. Do any MSN folk know what these admin charges are ?
Here's the thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=352388&goto=newpost
Chrisyou know when you're getting older - the wife says, "let's go upstairs and make love" and you reply, "I can't do both" !!0 -
