Jobcentre harrassment
Comments

What working as a slave as Argos is more important than her health and family,I dont think so.
Who wants to be a slave for these big chains anyway, nobody in their right mind. Jobcentre staff wouldnt do it themselves.
Places are pathetic these days. They should trot off and work for nothing, the whole scheme is pathetic anyway.0 -
bit of a curve ball question here, but as a contact lens user I am wondering how the OP's wife managed to break her contact lens?
Not a sarcastic comment- a genuine question!0 -

As she's new to using them the hospital has had to give her Soft lenses (hard lenses irritate her eyes) and these are very flimsy and Hospital said they are only designed to last for 4-6 months0 -
Why not take her prescription to an optician and buy some soft lenses off the shelf ?0
-
most lenses are soft lenses thesedays ( mine included) and they are quite sturdy
I have been wearing them for 14 years and haven't ever broken them - but even if I did
they are usually supplied 3 months supply at a time -so your wife should have had a spare pair
it might be worth asking them for some spares for such events0 -

there special contacts designed for both sight & to hold her Cornea in place, last time the hospital refused to supply 2 pairs because they cost £56 per lense (£112 per set). I'll try to get a 2nd pair out of them this time incase it happens again0 -
Whether ordinary glasses protect the eye or simply make the viewing area even narrower than it already is, is a point that has been debated long and hard on a certain forum for the one-eyed. If my non-eye looked better I'd use a contact lens rather than glasses all the time.. etc.tomjonesrules wrote: »As you only have one eye, surely it is imperative to have a spare pair of glasses to protect/ maintain the sight that you do have?0 -
Was the appointment with the JobCentre to sign on or some other appointment?
For future reference, the JobCentre I sign on at allows you to sign on at a different time on the same day without getting a non-attendance if you have a genuine reason you can't make it. You usually have to turn up first thing when they open though. Other appointments are usually agreed with the Advisor in advance - they don't make appointments they know I can't make. I know that not all JobCentres are the same though - yours may be a little stricter.
Also, presumably the blood tests are a standing appointment that your wife has on the same day at the same time every week? If she informs the JobCentre of when this is (and makes sure they make a note of it), they should work around it, especially if it's near the beginning/end of the day and so she would be able to work it around her job when she finds employment.
I know that doesn't really help you with the situation you're in now, but hopefully it'll help prevent you ending up here again!0 -
Yeah it was a normal sign-on apt. but because shes on the Work Program it has to be with her advisor not just any random person, and her advisor refused to rebook it.
Yeah the bloodtests are always either a monday or tuesday at lunchtime but the jobcentre has never made a note of this even though we've asked them about 4 times. She has an Apt. with her advisor tomorrow since they wouldnt give her 2 hours off her aunts Funeral and an interview friday to see if we're commiting benefit fraud (because they think she's unfit / refusing work even though we're gonna show them about 4 hospital/doctors letters)0 -
Just an update, we had our JSA Apt. just now and the woman was speechless when we showed her the proof and she dropped all the complaints (she never said sorry though) just that we wasn't "clear" enough with her.
Also it seems that if you find yourself a training placement you DONT have to attent the Work Program placements, my wife applied and got accepted for a 12 hour a week Childcare placement and the advisor said she doesn't have to attend ANY work placements at all so theres a tip if you dont wanna attend a 30-hour a week slave labour placement just find someone willing to take you on a training placement for over 10 hours a week.0
