Re installing open Fire Cost

Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone here has re opened and re installed an open fire?

The house we are in now had an open fire but was boarded up and plastered over.

We would much like to make it live again and have an open fire which will help with the colder winters.

I would like a log burner in their and was wondering how much this would typically cost to do and if it was a big job

Advice welcomed if anyone has had it done

Cheers

the first thing to do is to have the chimney checked. We got a chimney sweep around, he checked the chimney was still open, checked with a smoke pellet functionality of the chimney, etc. this cost us £70 including fitting of a new cowl on top of chimney.

After that, the cost will depend on the type of fire / wood burner you want.

We paid approx £1000 for removal of old fireplace, rebuilding of fireplace with firebricks, new firebasket, fireplace, etc

Fireplace removal and new one put in buget about 800-1000, a wood burner about 1600-2000
