Do you cut the labels off?

I had one of these weird conversations with my sister yesterday, about cutting the labels off clothes. I almost never do this unless the label is scratching or irritating or showing through the garment, my sister cuts the label off every single garment almost as soon as she buys them.
She says that it's best to cut the label off otherwise everyone knows where you bought your clothes and what size you are. ???? She's a size 10/12 and buys her clothes in Gap & Next etc, so what's she got to be embarrassed about, even assuming there are people who sneak around the changing rooms at the gym looking at your clothes labels and laughing at you. I say you need the labels for washing care instructions and to know the exact size, in case you want to buy that same garment or bigger for the kids, or just to keep an eye on your own size. (I vary between a 16 and a 20, bah.)
Anyway, just out of curiosity, do you cut the labels out? And if so, why? As I said I do get the point if the label is somewhere annoying, but what other reasons are there?

I always cut them out but only because they always annoy me. Don't care about the brand/size showing, anyone actually snooping to check this out is probably someone I wouldn't be friends with anyway!
I tend to only buy things with the same washing instructions (because I'm not doing separate loads) so I'm not worried about keeping the care label.0 -
I only cut out ones that I am allergic to, some of them actually burn my skin and leave a red mark. But other wise who cares!! Unless someone is going through your dirty basket how can they tell? Personaly if its from marks or matalan and I like it noone elses business. Anyone who thinks they can hid their size is under the mishaprehension that noone else can see them.0

i don't as I need the washing instructions. Also I don't care what brand my clothes are - and anyway most of them come from the CS anyway! Also who the heck would be looking inside yoru clothes??
However when my son was about 3 I went in one morning to find he had cut every label out of everything!! Still no idea where he got the scissors!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I'm pretty sure people can guess my size from looking at me. I'm happy with my size anyway, but if I wasn't cutting the label out wouldn't decrease/increase my size. Very strange.0 -
No I keep mine in, in case they are still in good condition when the children or I have outgrown them and sell them on Ebay0

I only cut them out if they bother me, which usually they don't.
A friend of my DD was chatting to me about volunteering in a charity shop. He told me his job was measuring clothes that have had the labels cut out so they can estimate the size, telling me it was a tedious, time consuming job and he was baffled why some many womens clothes were missing their labels.:rotfl:No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -
i cut the majority out especially bras as they irritate me, anything like wool jumpers i leave them in for washing instructions0

............also in case the garment develops a fault and you need to return it, better to have the label in situ.0
