Anyone advise??0

You can't tile sensibly over that old carp. Its either got to some off and be replaced by PB (D&D to walls, screw to studs) or D&D PB over the top of it or get it skimmed.

I'm thinking of just plaster boarding the whole room except the 3 walls that are around the bath where I will use moisture board and tile straight onto it, does this sound ok?0

Plastering **
First fix including fitting of bath (but not the bath panel)
Tiling walls
Tiling floor
Second fix (fitting the sink, shower and toilet)
Be careful with plastering - if your fully tiling is not only not needed, its a waste of money if the room is already plasterboarded. what are the existing walls? have they been stripped of the old plaster\render?
If you do tile a plastered wall, then you have to be a little careful which tiles you pick as some are too heavy for skim - especially reskimmed walls.
exactly as above never fit the bath then plaster if the bath is tight then some plaster/plasterboard will need to be cut away to fitI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

Shall I plasterboard the room before fitting the bath though and fit the bath before tiling?
So far I have had the first fix done excluding the bath. I am now looking to do the following:
1. Skim ceiling
2. Plasterboard room
3. Fit bath
4. Tile floor
5. Tile walls
6. Fit sink, shower and toilet
So basically does 2 come before 3 and does 3 come before 4 and 5?
Thanks0 -

basicly yes in the order you put,
you can tile the floor before you put the bath in but most people don't bother,
remember if you have a wooden floor then you will need to plywood the floor first (over the top of your floorboards/chipboard) & this is easier sometimes if the bath isn't in there & you will need flexible adhesive & grout (get some decent stuff i use nicobond don't use the cheap stuff from the sheds) also if they are natural stone/porcelain then the adhesive & grout is different than for ceramics & will also require sealing,
if you are having a seperate shower then the shower tray should go in at the same time as the bath & tile onto it,
when you fit the bath the height is determind by the bath panel BUT remember when you measure it to allow for the plywood, adhesive & tiles, so for example bath panel 500mm, ply 6mm, tiles 10mm, adhesive 5mm so the bottom edge of bath (where the panel fits under) should be 521mm from your existing floor.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Thanks a lot, that's really helpful. Luckily, my bathroom is downstairs so it's a concrete floor and the plumber is fitting the bath so hopefully he should know how to measure but I'll make sure he's correct using your calculations above
Thanks again.0 -
