If anyone is intending to use this free listing weekend don't wait to close to end of play tomorrow. There appears to abe a few issues already- I suspect private sellers have been waiting for a while and there is some heavy listing this weekend slowing things up.

I have assisted someone to set up a selling account today- and the verification took a while, and even now the full phone verification has not been cleared- although she is able to list. At first it was saying that she could not list until she verified her land line- but after two failed attempts with an ebay message saying the pin could not be input at this time due to difficulties- she has managed to list.

Also, out of interest there was a clear warning when she listed her first thing that she had a listing limit of 10 items per month and another link showed via paypal saying funds would be held for 21 days.

They do really encourage new sellers these days!
It would put me off a bit these days.

AS a buyer I am rather cheered by the idea that new sellers have some limits. It was still rather too easy though to open a selling account- it took us no more than 20 minutes in all and that allowed for all the 'error' messages and such like .

I suppose in that respect, but I always look at a sellers feedback score for an indication of that, and look through their recent bids and sales to see what they've been upto. And very rarely buy off new sellers.

The 10 listing thing must be new - I never had that!
The Fields are Green, The sky is blue, the River Nene goes winding through, The market square is Cobblestoned, It shakes the old dears to their bones, A finer town you'll never see, A finer town they'll never be, Big city lights don't bother me, Northampton Town I'm proud to be!

I think it is quite recent, I suspect they are trying to stop the scam sellers opening an account and immediately listing thousands of pounds worth of stuff. My friend also had a sales limit as well (but i can't remember what it was- possibly £600?). So the statement said you can either sell 10 items or £600 worth of items per month- whichever total you reach first.

Just a heads up, looks like the picture uploader is failing to work for a few people- so items are being listed without photos.
