Can halifax demand full credit card amount if I claim bank charges?

Hi there, I've just added up how much Halifax owe me (inlcuding interest) and it currently totals £978.35. I would like to take the next step and ask for it back but are concerned that as I have a Halifax credit card also with £5,500 on it they might demand all the money back or transfer money from another account which would leave me in trouble. Has anyone had this happen to them or does anyone have any advice please? I can't move on until I know where I stand.
Thanks all
