Sold a classic car and buyer wants some money back for repairs

"Dear X,
I acknowledge receipt of your letter, and your intent to instruct solicitors in this matter should I not reimburse you half the repair cost. Having taken advice myself, please advise your solicitor that my response to any claim will be based on Arkell v. Pressdram (1971).
I trust that this clarifies my position.
Yours,
Derry Kerry0 -

A month after selling it I have received a letter stating that the buyer has spent some money on repairs and wants me to pay half (£300). I sold the car in good faith, with no known faults and 10 months MOT. Where do I stand legally, he has threatened me with solicitors to pay full amount if I dont pay him half within 14 days.
I am so disappointed, I genuinely felt that this car was A1, and wonder whether the mechanic who has looked at it has mislead the buyer.
I'm not sure what the solicitors can though that he can't. Other than write scary letters on headed paper.0 -
@tim - excellent. :rotfl:
I wonder if the complainant would even look it up?0 -

Don't just ignore it for now - ignore it full stop.0 -
Tell him to take a hike he has no grounds of getting anywhere with this0
