HSBC Charges Advise

Hi I have recently sumbitted a complaint about HSBC charges totally £650 where there were 3 entries back in 2007 for x 3 £150 charges
I have applied under the hardship criteria and have recieved a letter today saying that the charges they have applied are fair under the new ruling, however have asked me fill out a income and expenditure form and send this back.
The letter is mislaeading as they are saying there will not refund the charges howver to give them a ring once I have filled this out to advice on how to avoid future charges etc
Is it worth sending a 2nd letter to contest the decision??

My parter has done the same but has had no response as yet. My understanding is that you can send a second letter again asking for your money back under hardship criteria saying that you would like to settle it with them rather than go to the Ombusman but that you will if you are not satisfied with their response. I would guess that they would get another 14 days to reply to the 2nd letter before you went onto the ombusman.
I think it might be a standard thing to say No striaght off in the hope that you will just go away !
But like I said we are just starting the process but someone who has gone though it might come along here with more information. I think the thing is not to give up are the first hurdle though.
Hope this helps a little"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -

It isnt misleading. It seems straightforward to me. They are saying their charges are fair but if you give them a breakdown of your expenditure they will consider it further.
The response suggests that your complaint letter mentioned "unfair" in there somewhere. Bank charges are not unfair.
There is no point going to the FOS if you do not fill in the expenditure form. The FOS cannot force the bank to refund charges. It can only ask the bank to look at your situation and make a fair judgement. If you dont co-operate with the bank, then they are not going to be able to look at your situation and wont refund.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I have phoned HSBC today and the phone call last 45 seconds, they have said that this was thier final response which has got my back right up. Under the hardship rule they have to be look at at all available options. I have sent a 2nd letter today via email and post now threatening to go to court over this as the case is strong and geniine lets see what happens0

No first response this end as yet..
It shouldn't be so hard for them to work things at as the bank has both accounts with them...so they can see all the money in and out and bills etc..."The time is always right to do what is right"0
