Success with barclays anyone?

Options
I've heard alot about other banks but not so much with barclays. How good are they in returning these fee's/charges?

I sent the initial letter stating how much it all came to and i wanted it back etc, but ive heard nothing. I plan to send more letters soon. Also if anyone has the best address to send the letter to asking for this money then i'd appreciate it. think i sent it to my local bank but heard nothing. thanks.

If you have heard a lot then you will know that reclaiming of bank charges is largely dead now.

  • I reclaimed mine from Barclays in 2007, all went through fine...but then it was 2007.

Forget what happened before the banks won the court case. It was easy back then. Since the court case, its a different situation. Even the FOS wont take on complaints about "unfair" bank charges.

  • I know its not an easy thing to simply request these charges back. But it cant be completely dead as in other threads there are stories of success with the other major banks. i just want a little more info on barclays to see whether like the others, if u persist they will give u a partial or full refund.

Its not completely dead. The banks sometimes still decide to make goodwill payments. Typically, only when the person meets their financial hardship criteria or if it s first time offender. The latter isnt a bank charge reclaim complaint though but a discussion with your local bank.
