This seems very good to me

I'd second that one, very good price. Decent processor, and graphics a heck of a lot better than the ones in the OP. 6gb still overkill, 3gb of that will be gathering dust if you're just playing Sims, watching youtube and doing online shopping, but numbers sell!0 -
cheers for that but, its only got 320gb hard drive which wouldnt allow her to store her games on after playing them would it?????......
is toshiba a good make for lasting 3 years or so???? i know asus is the top but not sure where toshiba is....
thanks0 -

id beware reading too much on the net, but assuming its the same list I saw, Toshiba came 2nd
320Gb is a fairly large drive (I suppose its standard these days, but its still what id class as large). A game is generally going to be under 5Gb for an install at a guess so thats quite a lot of game installs saved (Assuming that what you mean?):idea:0 -
Id found out if theres a particular reason because 4Gb is absolutely fine for the vast majority of computer usage. To actually need more than that is very unusual
In fact for windows 7 to run fine 1.5Gb is generally fine
It would be far better to buy a lappy with 2Gb of RAM and a decent graphics card than it would to buy one with 6Gb RAM with onboard graphics regarding playing Sims 3
NOT TRUE: 4Gb is recommended by Microsoft for Win 7 64 bit.
The second Laptop has a faster processor and is £48.63 cheaper at www.dabs.com
The Integrated Graphics are also better. A Core i3 Processor is better in many ways than the Dual-Core one. The "Architecture" of the Processor is more advanced - just means that it can deal with whatever you do with it, faster and more easily.
EDIT: forgot to ask the question that should always be asked. What do you actually want to do with the laptop? (Gaming, Photos, videos, or just general Internet stuff?) Heavy Gaming would not be possible, but either one would play some games at lower rates.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

thanks alienrik and robisere - i want the laptop to be more than fine obviously...thanks........
as i dont like pc world as i dont find their after care that good i would prefer to shop somewhere else, i tried to find the same laptop on currys but its out of stock but, they had recommend this;
http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/toshiba-satellite-l755d-12l-15-6-laptop-red-10732329-pdt.html?srcid=867&cmpid=comp~Google~Computing~10732329&istCompanyId=bec25c7e-cbcd-460d-81d5-a25372d2e3d7&istItemId=wmqliwpp&istBid=t
what do you think?
as well as the sims stuff she will be doing her uni work on it so will be storing wordpads and that.......
thanks0 -
i would only echo what others have said, toshiba good, get it from pc world if they have it in stock,
dont forget cashback sites think pc world are on there,
end of the day if you order it online, weather pc world or currys and have to ring up you will go to the same call centre, they are the same company,0 -

PCWorld and Currys have the same parent company.
For the price the processor is no good. I would expext that on a £300 laptop.
The dabs Asus is good and the PCWorld Toshiba is good. Very good bang for buck.0 -

I said 1.5Gb would be fine, the lappy has 6Gb which I class as overkill. At least 2Gb of the RAM is pretty much redundant so far as im concerned (No bad thing though)
The Toshiba has been recommended by PC PRO. They know more about the range of computers than I. I couldnt really recommend anything with onboard graphics personally, but they do.
If you need to get a proper gaming laptop with a proper gaming graphics card inside your going to have to spend quite a lot more than the toshiba, so if your happy to do that please give a price for us to play with.
I chose the Toshiba because its the best I could find that seemed to be within your price bracket. The onboard graphics should be suffiient to play games on lower settings, if you want an all out monster gaming machine your probably going to have to double or triple the price.
I HATE PC World myself, but what do you do? Double the price to buy somewhere decent?:idea:0 -
the pc world one is still out of stock - would any of these be any good?
thanks so much
