Have you tried emailing their CS? I find companies are usually a lot more helpful if you put your complaint in writing

All my correspondence has been via email MammaMoo, M & P's called me back the same day... Think I may send letters to see if that gets them to sort this out...
  • In my last email to Argos I suggested they phone me; I did not want to phone their Premium Rate phone number :p they did; within 30 mins of me sending email! Though I did mention Trading Standards ;) I was told by a very nice lady from Customer Services that she called the manager from the store the P.Chair was purchased from. I was told to take the item along for an inspection and the manager would more or less decide to refund me or not. I went along to the store with said item. After a while and the fact the P.Chair was 'Locked' in the folding position - she couldn't open it either! I was told she had to make a phone call. Did she? I don't know she may have just sat in the office for 5 mins; anyways she offered me a part refund :T I was happy with that! Item cost £69 my refund was £49. Can't complain; though she did want me to purchase a replacement P.Chair from Argos. I said I wanted to think about it :j Thanks to all...

In future if you come up against the same sort of scenario, they want you to make a purchase from them but offer a partial refund, its always worthwhile asking if they'll give you more in store credit.

Not always ideal if theres no other item you like to replace the faulty one or nothing else you would buy. So I would only really do this if the store credit is going to be of use to you :)

Grats on the partial refund though :D
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
