    If your friend is going to do online sales he/she will need to read up on DSR, it is very important to send the cancellation rights by durable medium, normally provided as a footnote in the order confirmation. This should also include who pays to return the item, without it the buyer has 3 months and 7 days to cancel and the seller must cover the return postage cost. It's also true that after the request to cancel you must refund within 30 days whether you have the goods back or not, if you don't get them back then your only recourse is the small claims court which you are allowed to do.
    In reality not many retailers will follow the rules to the extent of refunding before they get the item back, I wouldn't.
