Threats from PPC

I've received a parking charge from a PPC (UKPC). I haven't responded. They've tracked me down, doubled the penalty to £60, and say if I don't pay within 28 days they will forward the outstanding amount to a debt recovery agency, and this will incur an extra £60 fee being levied. I am getting alarmed as I don't want to be pursued by a debt recovery agency, or to have my credit rating damaged.
They say I parked on a hatched yellow area within a private car park. In fact the yellow lines had become so worn they were all but invisible, as their 'photo evidence' clearly shows! I think I would have reasonable grounds to appeal their charge, but I don't want to if I don't have to!
Any advice?

What is so scary about a debt collection agency? They have have no powers whatsoever, and they can not damage your credit rating! Unless the PPC took you to court very unlikely, win even more unlikely, then you didn't pay any order the court made within 28 days!
Carry on ignoring them!0 -
Don't waste your time appealing to these jokers - Simply ignore.
The UKPC letter chain is in the sticky so go and have a look to see what you can expect before they give-up.0 -
just ignore the scum of the earth they only want one thing and that is to scam you out of your cash! dont ever worry about them they will give up no matter how o.fficial and scary there bogg paper may lookPPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue. :eek:0

It's not a penalty, it's just unforceable invoice you have received. Landowners damages would most likely be zero so the most they can sue you for is zero.0
