I`ve got USB floppty drive thanks (e`buyer) but as its so old won`t load on my new desktop...but think I have just managed to install it on the netbook...finges crossed.
You make it sound so easy `whip out the HDD` I wouldn`t know where to start or what it looks like! what do you mean by a caddy? sorry it sounds a bit beyond me, can any simpleton do it?0 -
Yep, the HDD is located in under one of the access panels on the bottom of the laptop. Go to ebuyer and buy a 2.5" (probably SATA) USB caddy for about £7. Slide your HDD in and then power it up via USB on your new laptop

out of interest , just fixed a Dell Laptop with the same symptoms
fluff in the fan/heat sink when removed
virtually non existant Thermal paste , after new paste used its working fine and ran for several hours without shutting down afterwardsEx forum ambassador
