slow meter
hi all i'm a first timer and am hoping for some help. i have switched electricity suppliers, its to be finalised in about a fortnight. my issue is that southern electric are claiming i have a slow meter and are installing a new one and will be monitoring my usage to see if they want to charge me more because of this supposed slow meter. now i'm hardly ever at my place, the boiler is switched of at the mains so is the heating, and fridge, i don't have a washing machine laptop and all that. so i informed then the meters is fine i'm just not there alot, they insist that since 2009 i have used very little electricity so the meter must be running slow, so i will only get charged for the year.
now if there records show an issue over 3 years isn't it their fault for not dealing with the issue sooner, i have alway read my meter numbers to a human who has said nothing of a slow meter.
the new meter is being instaled an the 9th of january, should i ask the guy to also check wether the meter is working correctly or not.
once i change company can they still monitor my usage, (note i'm moving to ebco who use southern electric as their supplier)
i hope i've explained clearly, thanks so much for any advice.

Your old meter should go to an independant laboratory for testing who issue a written report - You could ask for a copy of this report but must do so by letter.
From what you have said about your useage it's likely that there is nothing wrong with the old meter, but that may not stop SE issueing a bill for 'Underpaid' power.
If they do, insist that any adjustment billing they want issue is based on the readings of new meter as it records your use over time0
