if only for cosmetic reasons, give it a wee rub down and paint it whatever colour you want.

  • Hi,

I painted my fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble drier with silver Hammerite paint when the craze for stainless steel appliances came about - around 1999/2000.

When I moved to this house, I painted over the silver with black Hammerite to match my kitchen cupboards that I painted black as they were all miss-matched and in terrible condition. This lasted for about 4 years until I got a new kitchen last year.

Both jobs were easy to do and I have never found any problems relating to doing it. I think I did a good job and they don`t look too `painted`. IMO.

I also bought a new dishwasher a few months ago and painted that black within days of getting it - I would have bought a black one but it was nearly £100 more than the white one.
