Parking near London Liverpool Street and Cheap prebooked theatre tickets

We're off to the big smoke next month.

Last time we stayed out near Heathrow and tubed it into the centre of London each day. This time we've got a sale room through Travelodge at London Liverpool Street which means it's going to be a bit of a problem in terms of parking. We're heading from the North on the M1 but at the end of our stay we're going to relatives in Guildford so will be heading onto the M3/A3. I wondered if our best bet was to park the car up for a couple of days in a secure car park on the outskirts and then tube into London for our 2 day stay, but really have no idea where would be best or if any of the tube car parks (Hounslow West we used last time) are secure enough to leave a car for 2 days.

Also it's my daughters 10th birthday and she is desperate to see Wicked, is there any way I can advance book cheap matinee performance tickets?

Thanks!

You could see if there are any good seats left on the GILT sale as we got great seats to see this again last year during their January sale. They have £52.50 seats for £25 in February. Another option would be to go to the theatre box office before the 10am opening time and buy days seats as they reserve the first two rows and sell them for £27.50 on the day.

It is a great show which my now ten year old loved when she saw it last year. She also loved Shrek The Musical which she now says is her favourite.

I would park up at a tube station and get the tube in, as it would be expensive to park near your hotel and depending on when you are planning to drive into London you may have to pay the congestion charge as well. It would be less expensive and easier time wise to park up and get the tube in.

Is it a weekend? You can often find on street parking for free over the weekend in the centre of town. It's usually free between 6.30pm and 8am every day and all day Sunday and sometimes on a Saturday. We drove in last Thursday evening, parked within 10 minutes walk of London Bridge, moved the car from 8am-6.30pm on Friday for £15 and the rest of it was on street.

Parking far out is a pain when you're travelling a while in totally the wrong direction just to come back in or head around the M25. I'd try and drive in if I were you so you can drive straight out on your departure.

The Central London councils usually have a parking section on their website that details zones and their operation times. Southwark's is very comprehensive so you can research where you park beforehand.
