Well, I assume it does some form of geo-IPing to work it out, and it's not unknown for it to be wrong.

It does indeed use geo IP just the same if you tye in the address bar https://www.google.com you will go to the site https://www.google.co.uk also clicking the links will do the same.

it is not, its just that you dont understand how others write, so the person writing confuses others/

I get @gmail.com addresses all the time and about 1% is @googlemail.com.

I think you have a limited knowledge of GMail.

Your thoughts are wrong as said above in all of my posts its clearly explained I think YOU have missed how Gmail works and how the intergration of smtp and pop and copyright were all made into one family, just because you get 1% of email from googlemail.com does not mean every sender has gmail.com as it depends on recipients pop settings and how it was initially set up.
  • What are you on about when did I say about senders. I said about setup getting @gmail.com and then 1% of @googlemail.com

I understand why google stoped the gmail service in the UK, UK company had a email system called gmail so google changed it to googlemail for UK users.

I would say read more into the posts rather then trying to make other posters look stupid.
