ESA 50 and medical - how often?

I was on IB and completed an ESA50 form and had a medical in August last year for the change over to ESA. They decided I was entitled to ESA in September and changed my benefit over from IB to ESA in October. Last week I received another ESA50 form, is this correct should I have to fill in another form so soon?

Every six months sounds about right, at least that's how often I have to go through the procedure.

    It varies.
For someone with a condition the DWP accept as lifelong, and that clearly means they meet one or more of the criteria, it may be very infrequent indeed.
For someone with a condition that can be reasonably expected to improve (in their view) - more often.

They seem to want to just keep on testing people, at great expense, in the hope that they can kick them off.

It probably does more harm than good, the constant re-assessments, tribunals etc (if your one of those caught in that trap) can worsen health.

Hopefully, if you passed first time round on paper, you may do again.
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

  • Thanks all for your quick replies.
The whole procedure is extremely stressful and going through it so frequently just makes you feel like you are being harrasssed and giving up in despair.
But I suppose thats the idea.
