    timmyt,

I was just trying to show the OP how the fees breakdown. Your comments are interesting though because I have used that firm for personal and business use for five years now (at least 30 completions a month) and never had an issue with them. Maybe it is time for me to take a look around for a new solicitors firm.

There was a thread about that website before. I can't remember the upshot of it though.

    Found the thread!

Hmmm..I think I have a lot more work to do than I anticipated. Luckily, our house is due to go up for sale next week and so we have plenty of time to make sure we make the right decisions.

Having said that, it would be blooming typical for us that someone catches us out and wants to buy it as soon as it goes up! If only we had a crystal ball.

If I discover any useful information I'll be sure to post it, although it will possibly be regional as it seems having an office to go into for tea and sympathy if we need to is the way forward, possibly.

Thanks for your comments everyone. x

It can still happen, however unlikely it seems in these difficult times......we put our last house on the market at the end of Feb 2011 and accepted an offer within the first two weeks, going on to completion in May ;)

We considered using an online conveyancer but were glad we chose a bricks and mortar firm in the end especially as one of the members of our chain lost all their paperwork in a fire that destroyed their solicitor's offices a couple of days before exchange was due to take place, so it was good to have a 'real person' we could contact who was able to offer us the reassurance and advice specific to those circumstances that an online firm may not have been able to :o

It may not have made much difference but having the support and expertise of our solicitor (who kept in personal daily phone contact after this unexpected event) ensured that exchange was only delayed briefly and completion happened only a week later than originally planned........

Good luck with whatever you decide!

If it is any consolation mine goes on the market in February, with tenants in and we live 2200 miles away (4.5hrs by aeroplane).

    Me, stressed, nah ;)

I'll hold your hand Lucyeff if you'll hold mine! Ha ha

Good lord! It's great to hear some good news moving stories instead of the word 'stagnant'! :)

Gonzo33, I'm sure it will be fine. As someone said to me today - 'everything is temporary!'. It's been their life's mantra...it's mine now as well! xx

You're right. Although I am trying to make some things a little more permanent now after travelling every couple of years (thats a whole other story). Will keep my fingers crossed for you that it sells quickly

Thanks so much. And best of luck to you too! I'm sure you'll rock it.

I'm the opposite, I've been here for 14 years now, and it's all a bit scary. But exciting too! The doc told me to focus on the nice bit at the end. Saves me twitching. ;) x
