Just wondering my entitlement...

Hi I am Just wondering my entitlement to a course I took out with computeach quite a while back.

I oringinally took it on with the information that it would be easy there would be lots of support and that there would be center training which was fully covered in terms of transport and accomidation while being in center.

I find out that the only thing they cover for transport and accomidation is £10 a day and this is coming from suffolk to there main center in birmingham.

With the changes in my life I was unable to settle and concentrate on my course so time flew by and I was unable to achieve harldly anything within the corse and deicded I was going to try really hard at it I applyed for the course to be extended.

a year has gone by and I'm pushing to try and do an exam which they refuse to let me sit until I have a 90% pass score on my mock when my average is 85%. so I have decided to cancel my renewal.

upon cancallation I have requested my course matrial and exam vounchers as most people have done and recieved, but upon me cancelling computeach are telling me that my contract is different since renewal and are refusing to give me anything. so in end I have nothing to show for it.

Am I entitled to my course content? I have paid more than £8000 on this company and they are telling me I cannot have material they would of given me anyway if I was able to pass a mock test. Is this fair?

I havent asked for a refund and I havent really done anything with the terms of them mis-selling the course with regards to travel and accomidation. what rights do I have on this matter?

Without sight of your contract, no-one can possibly answer your questions.

If your contract is different to everyone else's, looking at another contract won't help.

What exactly does your contract say about this?

What does the phrase "I havent really done anything with the terms of them mis-selling the course with regards to travel and accomidation" mean?
In particular, what is the significance of the word really in there?

Sorry yeah the only thing I did do is complain when I enquired about it and like customer service they just told me that the fact isnt true and did nothing else about it.

I will look for a contract but to be honest I dont think I ever got a contract, the only thing I remember signing was the loan in which I was oringinally told to get an amount and then it was to high apparentlly, so they swinddled me another course on top. looking back and this was quite a few years ago I cannot believe I took it out.

Just having a look at the original documentation I have kept for this all I have is a carbon copy of an enrollment form however there are no terms and agreements attached to it and I never recieved any.
  • OP,

Firstly, taking on a course under the impression it would be 'easy' might not have been the best thing to do! If the content is that easy - why would they structure a course around it? On top of that, how easy it will be for each person is a very subjective thing.

Your problem might lie in the lack of terms and conditions. For example, you were told there'd be compensation for the travel - and there was. £10. It might not be that much in your circumstance but for some getting the bus from a couple of streets away it's perfect! Again, the lack of T's and C's means you were never told a percentage or a monetary value that the travel costs would cover.

On the flip side of that, as wealdroam said; without a contract there's no way of knowing WHAT you're entitled to. I'm assuming that you're asking for acknowledgement of how you've done so far as you've not completed the full thing, however if the conditions of your course stipulate you only get a certificate (or similar) on completion then you might be hitting a dead end.

If the company are sure you signed a different contract, do THEY have a copy of it? It's very much like starting a degree in that there's no guarantee of you passing and getting anything out of it. However not getting 100% doesn't entitle you to getting your money back unless there was an explicit guarantee that everyone would pass.

Well thats the thing I'm not asking for my money back I am just asking for what I have initailly paid for which was the course content I have paid this company which I have just worked out £8121.90 and all I want is the two parts of my course contents which is the reading material and the vouncher to sit the exams, in all fairness I would of used them anyway if I was able to move futher than the mock exam.

I understand it wasnt going to be easy I was just putting it out that as thats what the typical sales persons pitch is like.

because I renewed they state that the old contract doesnt exsist anymore and that the new one in place states its a service rather than a course. I have the T&C of that but not the oringinal sign up but again in my eyes it was just an extension and just done over the phone they dont really read out the bits they dont want you to know.
