EDF Energy

My daughter is paying both her gas and electricity to EDF energy, yet her gas is called a "single fuel tariff" can anyone enlighten me on this? the first 48 units for gas are @5.573p and the rest are @2.356p. we are looking to switch but are not sure what to click on to compare prices.

The cost of gas is given by a price for each kWh and that is what the 2.356p refers to.(which incidentally is a very good price and you will be unlikely to get a better deal.

However what do you mean by 48 units? The normal tariff requires you to pay for 1,143kWh(possibly slightly more with EDF) a quarter at a higher rate - which will be the 5.573p. It won't be 48 units though, unless the bill is only for a few days.
  • Thanks for your reply. i was quoting from her gas bill which seems to be split into 2 parts for some reason it has 2 prices for kw used, but what I reaally want to know is why it is called single tariff when she is paying both gas and electric through same company.

The gas prices are probably in two parts - one part with the two tier rates and a 2nd part with two tier rates due to their being a difference in the calorific value of the gas, maybe due to the gas expanding due to the changes in the weather.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

When the company issued a gas bill, the calorific value is averaged as it can vary all the time, so it wouldn't be seperated on the bill.

    Their prices are here:
