washing machine problems

hi, we bought a new washing machine from tesco direct around 5mths ago since then its been out of action and needing repair twice.this time it needs a new bearing for the drum and we have been waiting 4wks and still not repaired.
it will nearly have been out of action longer than in use due to the faults with it.
should we demand a new machine or are tesco within their rights to keep trying to repair this thing.

they are well within their rights to keep repairing it unfortunately. The options are Repair, replace, refund but it is up to the retailer, often they will choose repair as it is the most cost effective option. But they have to repair it "within a reasonable time" i personally would argue that more than for weeks without a washing machine is unreasonable. how are you washing your clothes? If you are doing it at a laundrette have you kept receipts of some kind?
The best option to start with is to send a letter of complaint to tesco address as follows
Tesco Customer Service Centre,
Baird Avenue
Dundee
DD1 9NF
hope that helps a little.0 -
Tesco Head Office Phone Numbers in case you have a problem at the Customer Service Desk
0800505555 and 01382822700
If you still have a valid problem that can't be resolved by the store or Head Office here is the e-mail address of the Chief Executive please use it wisely
Found these for you elsewhere on this site.0 -
yes we have to take our washing to the wifes sister who has been doin most of this for us and its not ideal.
the machine we bought was a whirpool and i woudnt recommend them due to all this.
thanks.
the part that has gone(the drum bearing) is a major strip down job, i wonder how much this sort of repair is costing?
when this part failed on the mother-inlaws washer they said it was an un-economical repair, although her machine was a few years old.0 -
Ask for a refund or replacement. Four weeks is an unreasonable time to wait for a repair."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

i also would ask for some form compensation for your wifes sister, due to the fact that she is using more leccy, water etc, due to the fact that your machine is broken.0
