Nursery fees and 15 hours free paid! help please

Hi,

My daughter attends a private nursery.

Since April she has received the "15 hours" free by the government and the nursery deducts that amount from my fees.

I pay £185.00 per week monday to friday for my daughter to attend and the nursery deduct £40.00 of that for the free hours she receives. So I only pay £145.00.

The days rate at her nursery is £37.00 per day.

Now, I am confused,I read that due to the fact my LO attends nursery 5 days per week that the hours would be spread across the week.

So I worked out -

Monday - weds she should receive 4 hours free 8am-12pm which then I should be only paying £18 for the afternoon session. So that would make £54 I should be paying mon-weds.

Then there is 3 hours left over so then 8-11 on a thurs so I should be only paying £22 on the thurs then the full day friday which is £37.

= 18x3 = 54 + 22 +37 = £113 for the week.

As I have worked it out my LO isnt getting her 15 hours free. The nursery is £3.70 per hour and I am only getting 10 hours free when worked out the way nursery has done it. I was also informed that the nursery gets paid for the 15 hours so they cannot charge me anymore if they do not get enough from the government??

Can i asked for this to be done this way,as I was informed that I could choose when I want her free hours to be.

Could anyone shed any light on this for me?

Feom what I understand, your only entitled to the free hours during term times, have they worked it out to keep your payments the same regardless of whether its term time or holiday time? This is how my nursery do it so DD's free time is spread over the 52 weeks.

The free hours can only be claimed during 9-3 as well. So you wouldn't get 8-12 as four hours, it would be 3 free hours.

I wanted to claim 7.5 hours over two days but it didn't work, as was told nursery provision is between 9-3, 38 weeks per year. For the free hours.

So a child can only have either a morning session. 9-3 or an afternoon session 12-3, or all day 9-3.

They work it out so they get as much money as they can.

A nursery can keep some of the grant money towards education.

Well,

I had a meeting with the nursery owner yesterday and things arent looking to good to be honest.

The nursery manager has not been giving me my free 15 hours atall.
She said that because she does not have an hourly rate she will not give me 15 hours. I stated that I am legally entitled to my 15 hours per week as stated.

Since January 2011 I have only been receiving 9 hours free as opposed to her being paid by the government for the 15 hours. There also some months funding hasnt been received for my daughter when it should of been and where I have been charged £100+ extra for 6 ongoing weeks when she told me I had no funding when I have just found out I did.

I have spoken to Family Information Services who deal with the funding and they are now dealing with it!Basically over the last year when funding was given to my children they havent received it and the nursery has kept the money.

All monies that the nursery receives from the government should go to funding not be used for anything else. I was entitled to the 15 hours free not 9 hours when she was being paid for 15 and the manager keeps it because she wasnt getting enough money.

Just waiting on the investigation now to see where I go from here.

yes its either spread over 38 weeks and i pay the holidays or 52 weeks.

She was saying she giving 52 weeks but going through my bank statements I was charged normal rate for 6 weeks at £351 so i got my funding for it but still got charged. So she was changing it when she felt like.
