Fares for School Difficult to Afford

We don't know in which joints the OP has arthritis and she suggested it would be her son that was slow not her. I have a friend who has arthritis in her hips and knees and she couldn't walk to the end of a short road, the OP hasn't mentioned this level of disability. Even when you've had a heart attack you need exercise and walking is ideal. As for the son speeding ahead, at 5 years old he should understand how fast he can go. My 4 1/2 year old does.LOL, I did this with DS1 and I had to buy a scooter to keep up with him - BUT I was fit and well which isn't the case in this scenario. The crux of the problem here is not the distance or the ability of the child to walk it but that the OP has arthritis and recently had a heart attack!
OP - have you thought of contacting social services. Your main problem is ill health and disability and SS have a responsibility to support you in your parenting role. The other people you could try are Parent Partnership, they tend to know where the loopholes are and who to talk with.0 -
I don't think it is necessarily a matter of "not saving up," more of a matter of not being able to afford it at all.
OP said they were paying £18 x2 for weekly passes because they hadn't enough money for £50 x2 for monthly passes. Half term is just over a month away, so getting a monthly for the month leading to half term should mean that OP can halve the cost of these weekly passes.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The trouble is, PPs are being decimated, along with transportation budgets and some areas no longer have them, or they are virtually non-existent and will only take on the most dire cases. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
