Posting from UK to China?

Have any of you shipped things to China?
I need to ship a rubbery model that's very light and will fit in a 10x10x10cm box and I just wanted to know what's the "best" way to ship it to China?
I know Royal Mail is cheapest at around £5, and that Airsure and Internationally Signed for is useless when shipping to China - this is quite risky though.
Has anyone got any experience with Royal Mail to China? I remember sending a card to my relatives and it took a month even though Royal Mail states 5-7 working days!

It's exactly the same price as sending to The US or Australia and can be a very lucrative market in collectables .
The Far east isn't a huge market for me, maybe half a dozen things a year go there all vintage or antique. I do just use standard airmail and just box appropriately if item is delicate. It does seem a little slower than stuff going to places like the US- I usually reckon on 3 weeks to get to China or Japan.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I just hate how the price gap between using Royal Mail and private couriers is so massive! The cheapest courier will probably still set me back around £20, whereas Royal Mail will cost about £3-4. I wish there was a more "economical choice" with the couriers, something like delivery within 1 week for about £10.0

I recently sent two items to one buyer in China and both were not received. I suspect I had a dodgy buyer to be honest (changed feedback to private after the sale amongst other things), or the parcels were held up in customs. Anyway, I'm now out of pocket around £100 unless (hopefully) RM refund me."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0

I'm just going to risk it with regular Airmail and see what happens. I'll post the results for future reference for others.0

Just make sure you keep your proof of posting receipt in a safe place in case you need to make a claim.0
