PPI insurance with a mortgage

I was wondering if anyone could help me, 8 years ago when we took out our 1st mortgage with northern rock we were told we had to take out accident, sickness and unemployment insurance other wise the mortgage wouldn't be approved. The policy was taken out with legal and general. The policy number is the same as the old mortgage number. Reading through some of the other threads/post it was obviously mis sold to us (young and nieve!) We have since cancelled policy but not sure who I should write to with regards to claiming it back? Northern rock who insited it was taken out or legal and general?

Thank you in advance for your help

    Hi there

Back over the years, it seems that the insurance was mainly sold with the mortgage, so whoever arranged and set up your mortgage are the ones you pursue in other words the broker. Unless it was the case that the broker passed you on to the mortgage lender and they dealt with it through them afterwards.

What evidence do you have to prove that?
