DFS Sofa- cancelling the 5yr fabric protector?

Bought a sofa from DFS Boucher road today. I have read some not so good reviews online and we have never have had a sofa frm them before but I have family members and friends that have and have had no complaints.
However I feel we were pressure sold the 5 yr fabric protection cover and now feel we would be better off without it. We did get a terms and conditions sheet which seems to state we can cancel it but I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm this and if anyone has cancelled something similar with DFS and was it straightforward enough?

If I were you I'd save myself a lot of hassle and cancel the entire order.

If your family and friends have had no problems with their DFS sofas then they are the lucky ones!

we bought a cloth sofa from dfs with the fabric protection and it lasted us 8 years, my brother still has one of them now. It was the best sofa we've ever had. We bought it when my dd1 was 1 and it has with stood everything a children can throw at it, sick, food, drink and lots of jumping on it.

I know this doesn't really answer your question but I just wanted to give you a different opinion on dfs. If it says in the terms and conditions that you can cancel, then you have every right.

Edit to say that I read protection cover as the fabric protector (cant remember the name) they can add to prevent stains. Personally I wouldn't bother with any kind of extra cover.

Brother bought a dfs suite couple of years back and he was pretty happy with it but he paid extra for the "scotchguard" stain protection and said it was a waste of money as within a year it wore off where people sat and left the cushions looking like they had stains on them as the material was a lighter shade where it wore off.

we've a 2 + 1 + 1 from DFS in our family room, and it gets a fair bit of abuse what with me lying on it (as we speak) 2 retrievers and a cat, but the payment plan suited at the time.

its 'only' 2 years old but its sticking the pace better than we thought.

I think the problem with a lot of peoples perception of DFS is that they think they really are getting a £5,000 suite discounted to £2,000 and with 'interest free' credit for 4 years, when in reality they're getting an £800 suite, £400 of showroom glitz and £800 of credit charges.

Cancel it ASAP. Waste of money and you have a nightmare of hassle if you ever want to claim.

You would like to think the fabric would last at least 5 years anyway!

Hi, me and my girlfriend had a similar thing at the weekend when the salesman told us about a 5 year stain protection that comes with the sofa leading us to believe it was included in the price of the sofa. At NO point did he mention the cost of the stain protection, it wasn't until we were on our way home in the car that we saw the £150 charge. We were disgusted at how the salesman had slipped this in not telling us about the true cost. I rang the store straight away to cancel and am still waiting for the salesman to ring me back to sort this. I've been ringing every day since, i can see it is going to be a battle to get this back.

Did you manage to cancel your cover in the end? As you say it clearly states you can in the terms and conditions.

Do yourself a favour and cancel the whole order, my brother and my mother have both had horrific experiences with sofas, one arrived the wrong colour and was a mare to get a refund and the other you could actually see the staples in the sofa from the outside, awful company!!!!!!!!!

You would think that someone with over 300 comments would do research before " spouting " lies. DFS does not stand for direct financial services.
Scaremonger tactics comes to mind.
read the comment from pgilc1 to get a true representation.
When buying a car if you pay for a Lada you get a Lada, if you pay for a Bugatti you get a Bugatti.
You pay for what you can afford at the time.
I have a DFS suite, had it for over 3 years and its in mint condition, if you look after what you purchase it serves you well.
