Diet Help Please! Weight Watchers or Slimmers World?

I am fast approaching my 40th in May and am determined not to be the one with the fat backside at the spa on our girlie celebrations!! However that means losing a stone and a half!

Has anyone done both of these and have they got any advice?

Thank you - any advice is much appreciated - as unfortunatley hubby won't pay for me to have liposcution!!!

:)

tried both. hungry on ww. bored on sw.

have you thought about rosemary conley?

its cal counting and encourages excersise.as we all know the real rule is 'eat less exercise more!'

ive lost 2 stone doing it over 3.5 months and am hoping for another 2 this year!!

good luck what ever you decide!
  • I have never dieted so can't talk from personal experience but two or three of my friends have been succcesful on slimming world ( the one where you can have syns ( a very small treat but add it into your overall count for the day) its made up of red or green days and says what you can and can't eat rather than counting calories notreally sure how it all works but my friend who wanted to slim for her sons wedding lost two stone fairly easily. I swim and do Zumba twice a week to maintain my weight and love walking if you can do some form of exercise you should see a change quite quickly. Good luck with it all

Ive lost 4 stone with slimming world. Done weightwatchers as well. They both work as long as you stick to them so have a good look through each website to see what things you can eat freely/what you like. Personally I love slimming world but I think you really need to cook everynight as theres not many convinience foods that you can slam in the microwave. I cook every night but I do enjoy it. If your not keen on cooking then I think weightwatchers is better.

Theres now that extra easy plan on slimming world instead of just the red and green days that I found really easy to follow. From what I understand theres a new plan on weightwatchers thats quite similar now. In the class i used to attend you can go to the first meeting and just sit and listen without paying to join so you can get a feel for the group and i think its the same for all slimming world classes so id presume that weightwatchers would be similar so maybe you could visit both and see what you like best?

There seems to be among friends and colleagues a slimming world v's weightwatchers battle but they both work you just need to pick the one that suits you and your lifestyle best.

  • Ive done both and seen both sides as far as behind the scene on both bookwork etc, w/w i found i was starving constantly and many restrictions foodwise made me mentally starving too as always looking for ways to use points wisely IYKWIM lost weight and gained it back, over many years of yoyoing, I then dubiously decided to give Slimming world a go and have never looked back, with the extra easy plan most staple foods are free pots, rice, pasta, cous cous, meat fish quorn eggs low fat yoghurts and fruit and veg etc with a little planning and change the way of cooking success on slimming world is so easy, my hubby lost 2 stone lasy year myself 5 stone and my son lost 7 stone which im so so proud of but we have all lived along the way my son 24 has a very active social life now runs 5 miles a few times a week and have turned into a gym bunny it can be done but like everyone says its all about being in right frame of mind and finding right plan theres a fab slimming world forum on here if you fancy a read, also if your still unsure you could pick up both the magazines and follow each of the plans for a while..... id never go back to starving with w/w personally x good luck which ever you choose ...

I've been doing WW since June and have now lost 3 stones (and half a pound!)

I don't feel hungry on the plan, and feel that I've learned to make better choices about my food since starting it. I find the ProPoints plan flexible - you get a daily allowance of points plus weekly points that you can use for a weekend meal out or just add to your normal daily points for extra treats.

Hope you find one that works for you :D
  • I am a member of Weight watchers and I have found that it works very well.

I also run 3 times a week. I followed a couch potato to 5k programme that I downloaded off the Jog Scotland Website - although there are loads of running programmes about.
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

;) I have been successful with Slimming World - no need to be hungry as certain foods are unlimited. Also (and I think this is a major plus) once you've got your head around how it works (and it's not complicated) you can carry on cooking whatever the family eat (I assume you do the cooking?) and you have more of what you can eat and less of what is limited - no separate meals or weighing everything. It is a few years since I attended, and I am still around the same weight. I still go back to it when I need to for a few days here and there (like now!!) as it becomes second nature.
I am sure you'll get loads of advice on here, but if I had to give just one I would say find a form of exercise you love and keep doing it! I wish you all the best. xx:p

PS Just noticed you are also in Devon - me, too!
