Temporary Roofing

I am having an old extension demolished and this will leave me with a big hole in the roof Approx 25 sqM.
The roof is slate on felt on sarking boards. (Old Scotish cottage).
I am thinking of filling in the missing sarking using 18mm ply and then using roofing felt to seal it untill the new extension is built. ( Self Built so may take some time ). When it comes to doing the roof will it be OK to slate on top of the roofing felt or will I need to replace it with a breathable type of sheet.
The rest of the roof is ok and looks like it was done with roofing felt.
Any thoughts and advice.

ok to close board with ply then felt, batten and slate. dont forget if you are using breathable material you have to counter batten ie vertical battens first with horizontal fixed on top.

    Thanks
The problem is the area I need to felt is about 50 % of the rear of the house
The extension will be at 90 deg to this so if I board, felt, batton , slate I will need to do the other 50% of the roof which is OK.
No problem to do the extension this way.
Do you think it will lead to problems if I just board, felt slate.
