Hello everybody, any more December 2012 weddings out there? Less than a year to go now!

After a 2 year engagement, we have finally paid a 10% deposit and we are getting married in Lapland. We're having small ceremony/reception there with a few family members, and then a bigger reception/party at home (Cheshire) a few weeks later to celebrate with our wider family and friends. I'm so excited :j

Please let me know your dates/info etc and I will add you to the list

We got engaged last month and are just signing the contract for our wedding on 20.12.2012! We're thinking of going on honeymoon afterwards in Finland, it looks absolutely stunning :)

Me! Definitely December, date still a bit woolly but so far looking like the 21st. I wanted 12.12.12 but that's a Wednesday and H2B said no :p

We have a venue in mind (rural Scotland) but not booked it yet. The easy bit, being Scottish, is that the dancing will be Ceilidh (probably a disco too though) and the men will all wear kilts, which they all already have. So half the organisation takes care of itself :rotfl:. Then my Mum is a wedding dress designer so that is my dress and bridesmaids sorted. Venue will be for the ceremony and the reception so no cars required, albeit it's in quite a remote location so we better source a bunch of land rovers in case no-one can get there at all!!

I'm sure there will be plenty of other things to set us all in a kerfuffle mind you:o

Added you all on to the list! Would love to hear more about your weddings and what you have planned so far :)

I'm Scottish as well (although living in England now) but it's my H2B that is really up for the idea of a ceilidh at our reception. I would prefer a live indie band so it's causing a few disagreements right now! My parents will be sure to enforce a tonne of other Scottish traditions though no doubt!
  • Hi All,

We are getting our civil partnership on 9th Dec 2012 - really excited as we will have been together exactly ten years on that date :)

Have a budget of 3k for everything so we are DIY-ing quite a lot (cake toppers, bouquet etc)

Just need to find that dress now...

  • Hi there :D

We're getting married on 12/12/12 so we need to get a shift on!

LaurenC, we've been talking about a small wedding in Lapland, can I ask you who you used to arrange the wedding? I've seen a few companies but any recommendations would be great!

We've used a company called Travelbee and everything has been smooth so far! They always reply to my e-mails straight away. I was a bit worried about being ripped off by going through a travel agent but I've checked the prices of the accommodation and the flights seperately and they seem to be offering them for less.

Would you be going just the two of you or with family?

Well we have managed to pencil in our ceilidh band for all 4 possible dates in December! Going to see our favoured venue in 2 weeks time, they still have availability for then. Hopefully things will come together more once we get that booked.

Has anyone given any thought to winter flowers yet?

I think it's definitely going to be red flowers for me, although I don't know what kind of flowers I like in particular.

I went to try on a few wedding dresses at the weekend and saw one I love. I'm quite small on top but have big hips, so have found a lot of wedding dresses don't suit me and make me look unbalanced. This one was a vintage one and fits so perfectly. It skimmed over my hips, covers the top of my arms (which I also don't like) and shows off my 'decollete' (as I believe it's called?) area which I don't mind :) I have it on hold at the moment and I'm going to another vintage inspired wedding boutique next week to try on a few more and make sure it's the one I want. Didn't think I'd be buying my dress so soon!

Also got my bridesmaids dresses and a gift for them! I have 3 bridesmaids - my 2 sisters and my H2B's brother's girlfriend. My sisters stress me out and as much as I love them, I don't want them near me when I'm getting ready haha so I'm really glad of the other girl! She's really helpful. I got them all black dresses from the Coast outlet shop at Cheshire Oaks, which they all love. As a gift, I've bought them each a Thomas Sabo pearl bracelet and snowflake charm - costing me £155 total! I wonder if I spent a bit too much there, but I think they will really like them and they will look lovely with their dresses.

Has anyone else thought about thier dress/bridesmaids? How much would you spend on your bridesmaids total for a dress (if you are purchasing), a gift and any accessories (i.e. I'm thinking of getting them fur shrugs too at £50 each but worried I'm just going a bit far on the spending now...)
