Why not try the following...it worked for a friend of a friend.

Send him a letter stating that he can choose from 1 of the following choices:
    1. You are contacting the mjortgage lender to tell them from now on your payments will be at 50% and you will give them his personal details to chase him for the remaining 50% each month.
    2. You are stopping payments and will request that the house gets repossessed because he has stopped paying his 50%.
Also include a copies of letters that outline each scenario that you will send to the mortgage lender advising them of your intent.

So one will say choice 1, and the other choice 2.

Tell him he has 1 calendar month to decide, and if you hear nothing from him then choice no.2 letter will be sent.

Point out that both of your credit ratings will suffer, but you don't care because you will be fine due to being savvy with your spending/saving and you don't ever intend to buy a house again.

Sit back and wait for him to start making payments again.;)

Making empty threats that bear no truth will only make OP look an utter fool.

I would imagine the ex is well aware that the mortgage company don't give a flying fig who pays what % of the repayments, which is probably why he's stopped paying in the first place.
