Neurotic Buyer!

This bloke won an item from me on Sunday ( vase) and when I got the buyer's details it gave an address in the States despite my stating that I didn't send outside the UK.
I contacted him immediately saying that I wouldn't be able to complete the transaction. He then e-mailed me saying that he was based in the UK but had a US address as well as he bought loads of stuff from the States. When I went back to his details on E-bay the address had changed to a UK address and was c/o a company name and address.
Since then he has sent loads of e-mails asking if I'm going to proceed with the transaction and each time I have replied in the affirmative ( with a growing level of hysteria!!). I received his cheque yesterday, along with a note asking me to make sure the item was carefully packed! I resisted the temptation to tell him I would sling it in a box with a tube of UHU but instead contacted him immediately to thank him and inform him the item would be sent once the cheque has cleared.

Today I get ANOTHER message asking me if the transaction is going ahead!!!!
I know he's getting the messages cos' he responds to them - I've been sending them through E-bay. He is starting to wind me up and I'm terrified this parcel will go missing, get damaged, spontaneously combust etc.

Is it me? Is it him? Are they coming to take me away!?

just to be safe shell out a bit extra money on the postage and get it signed for at the other end that way it covers your !!!!!!!

once he gets the item see if he leaves you a positive then if he does put up a neutral saying you were intimidated and suspicous because of the different addresses etc

Why leave a neutral....he might be a bit paranoid.

He has paid etc leave a positive. You can always block him from bidding again!
  • I have to disagree with Hintza (sorry)!
I think you should give them a neutral, I am really fed up with others not giving proper feedback, if you are not happy you should say so.

I, as a seller would like to know if this buyer is a pain or a little strange , so that I can make the decision to stop his bid. If you give feedback like this others may follow suit.

I agree with oodlenoodle. I'd be a little suspicious. And if you're not 100% happy, why pretend you are by leaving positive feedback. This just makes it harder for the next people who deal with him.
    Good luck!

I don't like buyers that make me nervous, anyone that continually emails always looks a bit freaky but it is probably not enough to warrant a neutral, I would probably just not leave any feedback.

Just reading back through some of the older threads on here will see that some quite resonable buyers mention in their posts that they have 'emailed the seller three or four times' in a period of a few days so there must be a lot of buyers doing it.

However, asusming the item sold for less than £28 I would certainly cover myself by paying the additional 65p and sending the item recorded delivery.

Feedback is required to show how you felt regarding this transaction. Be honest and say what you think.

Sorry, new to the board so this may have been covered - if you are selling, why are you waiting till he leaves feedback before you leave feedback from him? Surely once you have received cash, his part of the transaction is completed and you shouldgive feedback on that - not hold out to give feedback based on his feedback on you. Having been burnt on one and only ebay purchase to date, I am not an ebay regular, but can't say I'd be impressed by such a practice

It could be that this person is worried about you ripping him off (That is not a suggestion that you are not trustworthy), He may be working for a company here and as such is using their address. As long as you have been paid I don't see what the problem is. If having buyers contacting you is such a problem why not just use paypal??

The transaction is not really complete until the seller knows the buyer has received their parcel. I dont leave the buyer feedback immediately as I dont know if they got the parcel safely. sometimes the buyer will email to say so but mostly they just feedback on ebay ,I leave it a good week from posting the parcel before leaving feedback if I dont hear anything.
  • I always leave feedback once I know the buyer has recieved the item and is happy with it. In fact I always include a compliments slip thanking them for their purchase and asking them to get in touch with me if there are any problems so I do not have a problem in being contacted. What I do have a problem with is a buyer 'hounding' me with the question 'Is the transaction going ahead?' when I have replied umpteen times that it is. It is always clear from his e-mails that he has received the previous message and I can't see how having Paypal would actually solve this.
His cheque arrived promptly, I thanked him for it, told him as soon as it cleared the item would be sent yet still he e-mailed me asking if everthing was going ahead and then a couple of hours later e-mails me with another message telling me he's looking forward to receiving a totally different item!! I had to contact him again saying 'Was the message meant for me cos' he'd actually bought a vase and not this other thing?'

He sends another message saying he was confused! He's confused??

I shall be so glad when his cheque's cleared, I've sent the bloody vase and retired to a home for the bewildered!!

Thanks also for the advice about sending it via recorded delivery - I certainly will! If he contacts me again asking if the transaction is going ahead he may well find it personally delivered where he won't be expecting it!!
