Travel insurance cover for terrorism ?

I have annual travel insurance which does not include terrorism. Is it possible to take out separate cover just for this risk ? It seems a good idea given the problems at Heathrow last year.

I've not heard of a standalone policy of this type. Check out Norwich Union as they were offering a travel policy which had no terrorism exclusions but most companies will exclude as a difficult risk to price. Many will though offer ex-gratia help for medical expenses and repatriation should you be caught up in something.

It is highly unlikely that an insurer wouldnt payout but the term is there incase of massive loss that incidents like 9-11 could represent (I know that we did payout on the claims we received due to this incident)

I would suspect that you can get stand alone policies for this given that you can get policies that cover things such as Kidnap Insurance etc however they tend to be mained at high level business people who routinely have to travel to high risk countries and would naturally be seen as a potential target and as such are priced as such.
