Anyone sell on Amazon? Are these Fees right?

Hello
I was looking to sell something on Amazon i have A LOT off but wondered if i had got the fees right as it seems expensive:
86p per completition fee plus 17.25 % of the sale price ???
I understand you can go pro Merchant for £28.75 a month which i think i may do if my product sells in there enough.
A couple more questions so basically it cost nothing on there to list just if it sells?
Can i list like 50 items for 1 advert / listing on there?
How long can a item be left on sale there for ? Like Ebay the max is 30 days for a buy it now.
I have seen in the past things for sale for £1 so wondering how the seller makes any money out of it or have i completely got it wrong???
Thank you for any help.

Yes and then another fee based on the postage price...Twisted_Angel wrote: »Hello

Don't forget your postage fee is set by Amazon and you can't change it. This means you might be forced to charge nearly £5 postage even if your item is worth a few pence!
If you do go this route you can set your own postage fees and you can create new product listings.Twisted_Angel wrote: »I understand you can go pro Merchant for £28.75 a month which i think i may do if my product sells in there enough.
Correct.Twisted_Angel wrote: »A couple more questions so basically it cost nothing on there to list just if it sells?
Yes - you just set the quantity you have - much like a BIN listing in eBay.Twisted_Angel wrote: »Can i list like 50 items for 1 advert / listing on there?
As long as you like.Twisted_Angel wrote: »How long can a item be left on sale there for ? Like Ebay the max is 30 days for a buy it now.
See my comment above about fixed postage fees. They may be being forced to charge nearly £5 for postage so have reduced the item cost to compensate.Twisted_Angel wrote: »I have seen in the past things for sale for £1 so wondering how the seller makes any money out of it or have i completely got it wrong???0 -

Male sure you suspend your items if you're away for longer than 1 night- you're expected to dispatch in 2 days!0

Yes they are correct.
I recently sold a hard back book, the numbers are as follows:
Selling Price: £8.00
Shipping Fee (which amazon set): £2.80
Total Customer Price: £10.80
Postage/Shipping Cost: £4.41 (Royal mail std parcels)
Packaging Cost: £0.00 (Re used packaging)
Amazon Closing Fee: £0.86
Amazon Completion Fee: £1.38
Amazon Shipping Administration Fee: £0.49
My income from sale: £3.66
Amazon's income from sale: £2.73
Royal mail's income from sale: £4.41
So the price the buyer paid was almost 3 times the income I received!
Amazon is OK for getting a bit of extra cash by getting rid of things you have and don't want but I can't see how people can make a business out of selling here based on these numbers.0 -
Most businesses will pay the monthly fee for the Pro Merchant account which means they don't pay the 86p fee and can set whatever shipping costs they like. I sell successfully as a business on Amazon and its starting to beat ebay for sales.Amazon is OK for getting a bit of extra cash by getting rid of things you have and don't want but I can't see how people can make a business out of selling here based on these numbers.0 -
Loads of info on this thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2171713
You need to sell at least 33 items per month to make being a pro seller worthwhile, the trick is to find thin, rare, popular, high priced items. Then the Amazon postal charge covers most of their commission, your item goes as large letter and you make almost all of the price of the item.0
