units of electricity per day

I have a dispute with british gas over our electricity bill, which for the past 3 years the bill is £ 6000. we were paying £ 158 per month direct debit which british gas stopped and sent us a bill for £3000. british gas realised there was a problem with our meter as it was spinning round 9 times faster than it normally should and sent somebody out to fit a new meter. We havents paid any money on the account since as its still in dispurte as why should we pay when they admitted it was faulty , and now i have just submitted a meter reading and have worked out that we are using 46 units a day !!! i cannot understand what is going on, it feels as if we are lighting up the whole road...!!! and advise ??

Electric heating? Lighting is cheap. Get an energy monitor. They are not totally accurate but they'll you some idea of the current energy usage.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • 46kwh per day is a lot are you an all electric house or do you use gas what type of heating do you have and how are you heating your water
  • Take a read from your meter one day note it down. take a read 5 days later note that down. divide by 5 and thats your average daily usage in kw/h. average house uses 15-20kwh/day

Was the new meter fitted to replace the faulty one, a secodhand meter? Ie: the reading was already far higher than 0000 when it was fitted.

If so, has the meter change been reflected correctly on your bill/ statement? Or has your supplier assumned the new meter was fitted on a reading of 00000?
