Problems with Internet Hosting service

I bought:
1. domain name and
2. hosting
on a yearly direct debit.
After 6 months, i transfered the domain name to another company but forgot to cancel the hosting. On the 13th month (today), i noticed money has come out of my account for the hosting via direct debit. I called up the company to see if i could get my money back but they refused.
Is there a way around this?

not really, you forgot to cancel the hosting and the Direct Debit, this is not a problem with the hosting company. most hosting companies would have a money back guarantee period, but this is from the initial order.
what does it stated in their TOS which you would of accepted when you originally signed up with them.
can you not use the hosting for something and then just cancel this for the end of the period0 -

I also have had a problem with my hosting company. The fact that I paid upfront for 2 years but then found out the my sites were not safe there. I then transferred to another hosting and cancelled their service. When I requested for a refund for the remaining one year and 8 months worth of hosting, they have refused quoting TOS. The fact is, I had other hostings and they refunded and therefore could not understand why this other hosting was so adamant not to refund. I also found out through RipOff that I was not the only one complaining about their crappy service and refusing to refund the money that they owe customers. Are Hosting Companies regulated? OR can they do whatever they want. They only give me service for 4 months but have refused and I do not know how to go about this. Need advise on this.0

Why was your websites not safe?0 -
Every time I tried to google them, some days they would be down, now warning nothing. I asked in the forum ( not this forum) and majority of the people were complaining about this hosting company and how rude they are. To be honest, I wish I had googled them first but they were recommended by the person who I bought some tools from only to find all he wanted some commission.0
