Hi this is the first time I've posted on this forum. I am a student looking to but a new machine and hope to buy from Evesham in the next week, I've selected a model I want to buy called the Axis Demon Plus
Here are the main specs:
* AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ processor
* 2 x 512MB DDR-2 667MHz memory
* 250GB Serial ATA hard drive
* 256MB NVIDIA 7600 graphics
* 19'' widescreen TFT monitor
* Silver 3 year warranty
The cost is around £700 and I want to know if the NVIDIA 7600 is a good gfx card?
I would also like to know if anyone else has dealt with Evesham before, whether they were able to negotiate(haggle) a good discount of the price?

depends on what sort of Nvidia 7600 card. You can get a 7600GS and a 7600GT. The GT is better than the GS for games. If you look here you can see the differences

The spec sounds fairly reasonable for the money although I'd question why you need a 3 year warranty.
You could also check out the dell website, especially the outlet. Also have a look at the following

I used to buy from Evesham but haven't bought anything from them since my Atari ST!!!It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Thank you for the links on comparing the models of the graphics cards. The three year warrantee service comes with the price its not an optional extra that I've chosen.
Also does anyone know if a 802.11bg Wireless LAN PCI Card for £35 is good and will it allow bluetooth connectivity or will I need a separate adapter for that?0 -

I think you will need a seperate BT adaptor. They are usually USB ones. Haven't seen a card for both. Netgear Wireless Lan cards are excellent ( I install them at work and home )If at first you don't succeed. Remove all evidence that you have tried
Information and knowledge is better than Size 9's and Persistance0 -

Thanks for the reply. I have a separate USB bluetooth adapter I was just wandering whether they come built in to these wireless cards. Yeah I'm thinking of getting either a Netgear or Linksys router as I've heard they are good brands.0 -
btw, some new pc's come with internal wireless cards. so check if the pc ur going to buy has one, before wasting your money on an external one

7600 GS/GT (& many other GPUs) comparison chart - the blue bars denote the selected ones compared. You can select different benchmarks to compare the cards under 'Choose benchmark'. G0
